How To Treat Overactive Saliva Post Meal While Having Hypothyroidism?
My Dr. had a TSH test run on me a couple of years ago. That test indicated I had hypothyroidism. But since I've been on medication (it never has been changed), I've had my hair thin, can't lose weight, still suffer fatigue. The one problem that bothers me the most is over-active saliva, especially after I eat. Could I have been overdosed? Or were the original test results incorrect? While I've been on the medication, blood tests come back normal. I take 50 mcg of Levoxyl daily. Thank you.
hi The symptoms described above(thin hair, cant lose weight, fatigue) are symptoms of hypothyroidism. But if your thyroid tests are normal with 50 mcg Levoxyl that can mean 2 thinks:the test is uncorrect and mus be redone or the symptoms are not due to hypothyroidism. For the problem of over active saliva there are some studies that demostrate that it can be a side effect of levoxyl.Salivary hypersecretion is found among people who take Levothyroxine Sodium, especially for people who are female, 60+ old , have been taking the drug for < 1 month, also take medication Clozapine, and have Hypothyroidism.I need more details if you take any other drug conteporaneusly with levoxyl that can be the cause of salivary hipersecretion.
