How To Treat Pain In Hand And Fingers Caused After Injury?
My 12 year old daughter was doing a back walkover and hurt her hand 2 days ago. She first had trouble moving some fingers and her wrist with pain near the center of the palm. Now she has much better movement, but still having pain in the center of the hand and when pressed pain travels up the middle finger.
It sounds like your daughter has injured her hand and wrist. Any injury causes a swelling over the area. This can cause the nerves that innervate the fingers to become numb. Along with numbness, the movement of the fingers may be reduced as the nerves innervate the muscles in the fingers
Usually, a RICE regimen of therapy can help with the symptoms. Rest the arm and avoid any more exercise Ice the injured area for 15 mins 2 times a day Compress the area with a crepe bandage Elevate the arm to help reduce the swelling in the arms
Using an over the counter painkiller may help with the symptoms as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Vignan Rachabattuni
