How To Treat Paining Knee After A Hit?

I slashed my knee on a metal box Jan 2013, had 7 staples and 14 stitches. Now in 2014, I still experience pain and a clicking of patella (it seems). It feels slightly numb, and when I walk, I feel like there is a lot of pressure, literally inside my knee cap. Should I get this checked? What kind of doctor should I See?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
From description it seems soft tissue injury or ligament injury. If proper immobilisation is not given at the time of injury, healing of tissue or ligament might get hampered.
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination of swelling. You may get the X-ray/MRI of the area affected under his/her guidance.
Meanwhile give hot fomatation over it, You can take Tablet Motrin 1 tablet with food as and when required (upto 4 tablets daily).

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
