How To Treat Swollen And Painful Foot After An Injury?

Fell on Tuesday night down stairs! Since then have had swollen foot and terrible pain. Have kept elevated and ice every 15 minutes then off also in ace bandage now day 5 and still no relief! Have been taking ibuprofen but does not help! Do I need to see a doctor?

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com. Sorry about the continued pain. If you are able to bear weight on the foot then I am afraid that it is highly unlikely that you broke a bone, and these injuries take a while to heal, we are talking as long as 6 weeks. Your treatment is currently correct. Once in a while a splint may help immobilize the ankle for example and give it better chance to heal instead of continued micro-injuries. Give it a total of 10 days and you should see improvement by day 14, and if not then you may see a doctor, you are welcome to repost back and tell us how you are doing and we can guide you further, also did you sprain your ankle and where specifically did you injure your foot? I hope this helps and good luck.
