I Am Having Pain After Putting Screw In Knee By Surgery
i am 19 years old and i had a knee surgery 8 months ago where my doctor re-aligned my knee cap and the had to break a bone and move it over, then he put a screw in it to hold the bone in place. i went to physical therapy and did all of the exercises but still the screw is very painful if i squat, bent down, step hard, jump, or cross my legs while laying down (where my other leg rests on the area where the screw is). is there anything i can do to ease the pain? or what do you suggest i do?
Hi there,
At your age it should heal quickly. And if your activity is back to normal which I assume it is(since you mention you can run, jump and squat), that indicates your bones would have healed by now and the screws can be removed if x-ray indicates the bones are fine.
Screw removal is a simple procedure which takes ten minutes usually. Time to go back to your orthopaedician and plan for screw removal.
Regards,
Joey
