Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Bad breath is usually caused due to-poor oral hygiene maintenance, ear, nose and throat infections,GERD.

I would suggest you to get thorough scaling done.

Gargle frequently with chlorhexidine mouthrinses.

Use SOFT bristled toothbrush as well as tongue scrapers.

If symptoms persists, please do visit an GP too.

Take care.

Dentist Dr. Qazi Ammara's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

Bad breath occurs due to plenty of reasons like poor oral hygiene, plague and calculus deposition, GIT disturbances, Sinusitis, tongue coatings, decayed tooth, oral pathological conditions.
I would suggest you to visit to a Dentist and get a checkup done.
Go for complete mouth scaling and polishing every six months.
Develop a habit of brushing teeth twice daily, use interdental toothbrush, floss.
Use antiseptic mouthwash rinses twice daily.
Maintain a very good oral hygiene.
If there are any decayed tooth then get it restored.
Avoid alcohol consumption, smoking.

Hope this helps out,

Regards..

hi...
thanks for the query...
bad breath can be due to oral, ENT or medical problems...
visit your dentist for complete oral examination... sometime, grossly carious tooth is the source of foul smell... in that case it will require restorations...
or due to presence of plaque and calculus... and inflamed gums and deep pockets... in that case it will require proper scaling and root planing...

brushing twice daily with pea sized tooth paste will help... make sure that you brush your teeth AFTER MEALS instead of before meals... rinse after every meal... also use tongue cleaners... tongue may harbor micro organisms on its surface and can be the source of bad breath...

if still persists, consult general physician to rule out any metabolic disease... consult ENT specialist also...

hope it will help you...
take care...

Hi,
First of all it should be understood that malodor is caused by many reasons like decayed teeth, poor oral hygiene, gastric problems,Sinusitis, liver disorder, diabetis, smoking, alcohol consumption, tobacco chewing. You should consult a dentist to check for any problem in your oral cavity. If the problem is due to calculus and plaque it can be removed by scaling and polishing of your teeth. Flossing of teeth and tongue cleaning using tongue scraper should be done daily.

Dentist, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dr. Manish Gupta's  Response
Hello,
Bad breath can be due to a number of causes like :-
Local factors like oral hygiene (Improper brushing technique, food lodgment on the tooth surfaces, smoking, etc) or
Systemic factors like Diabetes, Gastric refluxes resulting from dietary components rich in garlic, onions etc.
The first thing is to visit your Dentist and get the cause of your condition diagnosed. Also get a professional cleaning (scaling/Oral Prophylaxis) done. Maintain good oral hygiene by simple procedures of brushing twice a day, rinsing and flossing after every meal. Start using a mouthwash regularly and drink plenty of water thru the day.
Take care....

Hi
Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum,

Bad breath could mean an underlying infection not only limited to the tooth, tonsil, but may be any underlying illness as well, make sure your oral hygiene is good and rinse your mouth as often as possible, also make sure you do not suffer from constipation ,if you have vitamin deficiencies or anemia get it corrected, drink lot of water daily and after you have lot of onion ,garlic or other pungent food make sure you drink lot of water and rinse mouth well
