costochondritis is the most common cause of chest pain originating into the chest wall. some symptoms are
-pain and tenderness in the locations wherre your ribs attach to your breastbone ( costosternal joints)
-often sharp pain, though also dull and gnawing pain
-location often on left side of breast bone , but possible on either side of chest
-pain when taking deep breaths
-pain when coughing
-difficulty breathing

it can be caused by
-injury
-physical strain
-infection
-fibromyalgia
-or pain from other areas of your body

it most often occurs in women and in people older than 40. it can affect anyone though, including infant and children. you dont have anything to worry about though you cant die from it. i have had it for 10 years the only thing you can do is run warm water on a towel and put it on your chest and take some pain medacine or take a bath in warm water with the water covering your chest but dont take a shower because sometimes it makes it worse from the water pressure and yes it does spread to other parts of you body exspecialy your shoulders knees ankles wrist and neck ...mainly your joints and this information i gave you is profetional information i got paper work for but you dont have to worry about anything unless your hearts starts racing or double beating then you need to get to an er. well i hope this helped you
