Inability To Urinate Post Colonoscopy, Emergency Situation ?

My daughter had a colonoscopy at 6am this morning. She was finally released at 5pm. She was unable to urinate. She finally was able to urinate and was sent home. It is now 12:20am. She feels the need to urinate but, is unable to. She is in severe pain . is there anything I can do to help? Or should I take her to the ER??
