Indigestion, Pain In Breastbone, Blood Test Shows Iron Deficiency, Breathlessness. What Is Wrong?

I went to my gp because i had bad indigestion and a pain in my breastbone and under my ribs. she took blood tests and they have come back showing iron deficiency . She has referred me for an endoscopy . the pain and indigestion comes and goes and is worse after meals. i have shortness of breath and am worried. i am 49 and still have periods . what is wrong with me please

I appreciate your concern.

I would empirically recommend a two week course of a
course ofa PPI, mebeverine, eucarbon and sucralfate to see for improvement, if
symptoms persist then endoscopy plus barium studies may be indicated
done in consult with your doctor to rule
out other causes such as a GI bleed or PUD etc
