Infant. Large Quantities Of Curdy White Vomit, Frequent Bowel Movements With Green Flecks. No Fever, EBF. All Activities Normal. Concerning?

My 3 month old started vomiting yesterday morning, and continued to vomit all day, not immediately after being fed though, and not projectile, but certainly large quantities of white curdy vomit. He is EBF. He did not vomit all night, and has no fever. He had several bowel movements, more than usual, but the same consistency and color (yellow). He seems happy, and is interested in feeding and sleeping. He didn't vomit all morning, but just vomited around noon, and the were some green flecks in his poop. Should I be worried?

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Though you have mentioned about your son's vomitings and loose motions you have not mentioned the frequency of his passing urine. If he is comfortable, feeding well and passing urine at regular intervals then it is advisable to wait and watch. He could be having viral gastroenteritis which should subside in the next day or two. You need to ensure that he does not get dehydrated and should have adequate fluids. You need to worry in case he is not passing adequate urine or appears lethargic and is not accepting feeds.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son an early recovery.
