Infant Continuously Getting Fever, ESR, CRP And SGPT Elevated. Respiratory Tract Infection And Seboric Dermatitis. Opinion?

my daughter is 1 year and 2 months old and six months after her birth she is continuously getting one after other illness. First came otitis media then after seboric dermatitis on frontanal part of head. And then after cold and cough but without fever. On May 27 found upper respiratory tract infection and after hospitalization for 2 days and medication was ok. But again she is getting continuous fever from 3 days without any cold & cough. Her Chest is clear but her pathological findings found esr, crp & sgpt elevated. Pls need your opinion reason behind continuous fever.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

It is not unusual for a child of this age to have repeated attacks of upper respiratory tract infection. The child is building up the immunity by having repeated attacks. Yes, ESR and CRP indicate infection but isolated elevated SGPT does not have any significance. Ensure that your daughter has a good nutritious diet which will reduce the frequency of these attacks.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter an early recovery.

Pediatrician Dr. Y V Siva Sankara Murty's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
I can understand your concern. Do not worry.

Children normally get repeated infections before they develop immunity. Few episodes of respiratory infections and gastrointestinal infections are common in children before they grow up.

Elevation of CRP may indicate bacterial infection or inflammation. It has to be taken into consideration along with other investigations like CBC, blood culture etc.
Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
