Infant Fell On Wooden Floor, Bruised Head, Acting Normal. Should I Be Concerned?

My eight month old fell from my bed unto our floor made of wood. I did not see how he fell and where he hinted against the floor. He cried a bit and slept off. I tried to observe him after coming out of sleep. He plays normal like he has been doing. But I observed that the soft part of his end has extended a bit to the front head and sunken and pointed out. It was very obvious. This is giving me a lot of concern. Please what could this mean or should I not worry at all.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

A child falling on the floor and getting hit on the head is a concern for parent and I understand your anxiety.

You must observe your child carefully for a while. Please take note if he is getting irritable or restless, crying, vomiting, refusing to take feeds and having any seizure. If any of these happen, you need to consult a neurosurgeon immediately. If the swelling gets any bigger, it is always advisable to consult a doctor and be sure that there is nothing to worry. A CT scan might be done to rule out any suspected head injury.

If your child is playing normally then there is nothing much to worry.

Hope this helps
