Infant Had A Fall, No Bump Visible, Body Seems Warm. Related?
My 8 month old baby rolled off of our couch yesterday. I didnt witnessed the fall so i do not know whether his head hit the floor first. I didnt see any lumps , bumps, redness on his head nor any part of his body. He did not complain of any pain and he was back to his normal self right after the fall. Today in the afternoon, after waking up from his afternoon nap, his skin feels warm, checked his temp, about 37.8-38.2C. He is not lethargic; he is acting normally. I was wondering if there is any connection between the fall and this new fever . I had just given him his tempra
Hello I have gone through your history. Your baby didn't had any danger signs after his fall like lethargy, feeding difficulty, vomitings and excessive cry. The present fever can be a coincidence. It can be a simple viral infection.you need to treat him with paracetamol and just maintain his hydration status by giving him adequate fluids.
Thank you. Good day
Hello
Following fall there may be injury to head or any other part of body. Now head injury may be external or internal. He does not has any symptoms of head injury like vomiting, irritability, lethargy or abnormal movement. You have also examine the body parts for injury and there is no pain. So you need not to worry.
Fever is not a symptom of injury to any part of body. So it has no relation to the injury.
I would suggest you to monitor the temp. give paracetamol for this and consult a pediatrician to evaluate the cause of fever.
Regards
Hi
Thanks for your query
fever is unrelated to fall ,
i suggest you record temperature 6 hourly and in case it is more than 100F give paracetamol.
give plenty of fluids.and in case there is any localising symptom take pediatric consultation.
