Infant Having Severe Stomach Pain, Struggles To Fart, Does Not Pass Motion Easily, Gaining Weight. Suggestion

Hi there, I have an eight week old baby who suffers terribly with stomach pains. She struggles to pass wind through her system and it really hurts her. She is solely breastfed but doesn t pass a motion easily and it is formed when it eventually comes (every week or more). When she does the stools are initially formed and the back up stools are really frothy. She is gaining weight and has plenty of wet nappies. Any thoughts? Nikki.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi Nikki,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Your child seems having colic with excessive gas.

This is a common problem in infants and it will subside as the child grows.

It can be managed by the following measures.

Burp the child after each feeding.

You can give colic aid drops orally for stomach pain.

Gas problem can be treated by giving oral drops like Neopeptine.

Therefore I advise you to consult the pediatrician for physical examination and for medication.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
