Infant Wakes Up At Night And Feels Restless. What Is The Underlying Cause?

My 12 month old daughter goes to bed at 830p, wakes at midnight and is restless until 1a, then wakes again between 230a and 3a, and is restless and fussing until 4a or 5a. She is not currently teething . What can we do to help her sleep? Her pediatrician just days to let her cry, but has run no tests to determine an underlying cause.

Hi,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic,
The restlessness in your child may be due to noght terrors or night mares in the sleep.
Or it may be due to feeling of separation.
Investigations are not required for this type of sleep problems.
But any discomfort like nose block, colic ahould be checked.
Nothing to worry as these sleep problems will subside as the age grows.
Introduction of a transitional object like a favourite teddy bear or a blanket will decrease the symptoms by giving her self comfort and soothing.
Hope I have answered your query.
