Inflamed Urethra With Swollen Clitoris. Burning In Urethra. No Infection In The Blood Tests

Hello,

I have a swollen, hard clitoris in addition to an inflammed hard urethra. I previously had a bad uti in january (following rough sex) was prescribed two sets of anti biotics and have not felt right thereafter. My urine samples are clear and my gp has done blood tests that again have came back fine. I have had a full sexual health check and again all clear. I was recently given another weeks course of anti biotics which have not helped. I have constant burning at my urethra+the left side of my clitoris feels swollen, hard+painful. It is not sore when i urinate but i also have pain at my vagina. Sudocream has given me some relief but I am getting really undermined by this constant pain-i have stopped drinking caffeine, having sex, going to spin classes etc but nothing seems to be making a difference.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

From your query, what worries me most is the fact that you are experiencing swelling of the vulva. This points towards a few other infections other than just a urinary tract infection (UTI), this might be the reason why the medications prescribed by your doctor are not helping you much. Let me first list the possibilities we will have to consider with your current symptoms:
-Herpes
-Fungal or yeast infection
-Allergic reactions
-Inflammation of the vagina
-Thrush

I request you to please watch for any vaginal discharge, and if present report to your doctor. Also, although you have recently been screen for sexual diseases, it is better to re-investigate the above mentioned conditions. Please also request for a urine examination, as we will have to rule out a urinary tract infection also.

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help you.

Best wishes.
