Injured Himself With Brain Swollen, Skull Cap Missing. Put Back, White Spot Seen That Leaks Blood. Will It Cause Infection ?

My father injured himself almost four years ago. Smashed in skull had to release pressure cause his brain swelled turns out he had a stroke which caused the fall and injury. After approx seven months in hospital. He came home with a peice of his skull cap missing eventually it got put back in. A few months after that where the skull pei e was put back it concaved in and appeared to be bone coming almost through the skin. It has been a few years now with this little white spot just below the hair line on the top left of his head three days ago it exploaded clear with a little blood. Its been leaking on and off for three days and tonight it shoot out yellowy green puss and theres a hole just a little bigger then a pin size. Could this be weakness in the skull leading to leakage and infection. Should we get him to the hospital....

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

From the description it is clearly evident that your father is having wound infection, possibly osteomyelitis of skull bone.

This needs to be treated aggressively before it spreads in and causes meningitis which can be lethal at times.

There is no room for WAIT AND WATCH policy.

I suggest you to consult your treating doctor and follow his advice.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
