Injured Shin Falling Down The Stairs, Tender, Swollen And Bruised. X-ray Revealed No Broken Bones. Second Opinion?

I fell down stairs, folding my leg under me and injured my shin. The area to the right of the shin is extremely tender to the touch, even over 48 hours later. That spot is swollen and bruised, the area is also really raised in that spot. I had an xray but the nurse said the doctor wasn't a radiologist and would have a radiologist review my xray and call if he found anything different. I havent heard anything from a radiologist but the doctor said it wasn't broken. I cant put weight on it and use a cane to keep from making it worse. Should I get a second opinion on the xray?

Hi,
From history it seems that you got severe soft tissue injury over the part.
There might be having some injury to shin bone affecting upper bone layer, so that your doctor wants radiologist opinion.
In such case I advice to my patients one course of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicine to prevent more infection spreading in bone and soft tissues.
Apply ice packs.
Ok and take care.
