Injury To Shin Causing Swelling And Pain. Discolored Skin. Treatment?
Hi, I got hit on my shin bone about 6 weeks ago with a weighted kettle bell. There was immediate swelling on the area that was hit but I could still put weight on my leg and finish the class. Since then I still have a lump about 2 inch diameter which is not bruised but is slightly discoloured on the skin and is hard and tender to touch. What could this be?
It seems that the bone lining is still swollen up. It is called as periostitis. It may also have resulted in a small fracture of the bone as well. It will go down. Do not put pressure on the leg. Get an x-ray to rule out fracture. Take appropriate pain-killers. Watch for signs of infection.
