Insomnia, Depression, Hallucination, Pain In Feet After Taking Simvastatin For Cholesterol. Will Strict Diet Reduce This?

Hi two weeks ago,my doctor did my blood test and said that my LDL cholestrol is 5.9. She told me to take simvastatin 20mgs. When I take that medicine, I get severe insomnia, depression, hillusination and pain in my feet. What do you advise me to do? Can I at this stage stop taking simvastatin and instead take a strict diet to reduce cholestrol? Please advise me.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

That level is rather high and unlikely to be controlled by life style changes alone...
Diet and exercise can supplement, not supplant the medicine...
If the problem is from statin, you can change to fibrate / bile acid sequestrants / ezetimibe and so on...
The treating doctor alone can suggest further based on his assessment of the situation.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
