Bi-lateral open carpal tunnel release 2007. Intense pain in left hand/wrist/arm by time I got home for surgery which I still have most of the time. My wrist hurt all the time. I have some lesions on brian (not MS), Put on tons of Pain meds-took some time but I took myself off all the heavy ones. 3000mg gabardine, 5mg oxycodone 3x day and some tramadol-not helping anymore Pain clinic early on said RSD tired spinal cord stim,=Slightly buldging disc C6 couldn't get it around disc.... Many Doc's no answers. I am convince now I don't have RSD I think that is a bunch of crap. This spring bone scan-what do ya know I need new thumb joints! hand doc refuses to research the rest of my pain. What type of imaging do I need. I didn't have any pain before surgery-just tingling and some numbness. I have been put through an unbelievable amount of mental stress, lost my job, lost everything. I don't feel that all the testing that is available has been done.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
After the surgery for carpal tunnel, there may be a severe pain after the effect of anaesthesia is over. You can keep your arm elevated and use a sling to help relieve the pain.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
