Interested In Drug Assisted Therapy From Being A Functioning Alcoholic ?
I do believe that I'm moving into the area of being a "functioning" alcoholic. I'm not in denial about my situation. I'm concerned about the Christian based services of AA. I'm spiritual -- but not "born again," I'm interested in drug assisted therapy for this problem. And I do need help. Please tell me that this is not a money based enterprise.
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
There are various forms of treatments available for alcohol problems. There are effective psychological therapies like motivational enhancement, relapse prevention, etc. which can be accessed from your local mental health services.
There are also drug-assisted therapies - where medication are used in addition to psychotherapy to improve success rates. There are medication to reduce the craving for alcohol (known as anti-craving agents) as well as medication which can act as "deterrents". If you are interested in taking drug-assisted therapies, then please consult a psychiatrist in your place for further guidance.
Wish you all the best.
