Irritation In The Epiglottis. Anything To Be Concerned?

Sometimes in the morning when I awake my epiglotis is hanging down and feels irritated. Especially when the time is cold, it feels extremely uncomfortable and causes me to want to swallow every 5 sec, I dont think its anything serious because I can still breath and swallow properly, the epiglotiss just flops when I do.

Hello

Thanks for writing to H.C.M.

I read your query regarding irritation in epiglottis specially in morning as you awake in cold weather. During this irritation you don't feel any difficulty in breathing, at the same time there is no problem in degulitition also.

According to your symptoms this appears to be allergic in nature. therefore it appears during morning hours and remains for some time.

Regarding treatment you should take-

(a) Tab Cetrizine.

(b) Antacids.

(c) Warm saline garglings.

I hope this will help you.

Regards.
