Is 20 Mg Of Prednisone A Safe Dosage For Pain In The Hand?

Hi, my mother is 97 with several heart conditions. She is having very severe pain on her left hand. even when she touches walker to hold on to. The doctor is recommending she go back on prednozone. He said to take 20 mg daily until she feels 50% better. Is there a concern with her taking 20mg for mnore than 3 or 4 days?

The 20mg dose is a low dose and should be okay for a few days. It would be best for her to use it for less than a week.

If possible, she may need pain medication along with this to see if the combination can help relieve her discomfort.
