Is Alprim Trimethoprim The Right Medication To Treat Recurring UTI?

I have several symptoms of a urinary tract infection. The need to urinate/heavy bladder feeling/ only able to urinate a tiny bit ant once I left the bathroom I am back 5 min later kept me up all last night and is making me terribly uncomfortable and unable to do much today. I have had these several times before. I have an extra prescription from the last time I had one. It is ALPRIM trimethoprim 300 mg once a day, 7 tablets. Is this the best way to treat it. Also would swimming in a heated public pool be advisable today? I have been very tired the last few days which has kept me from my regular swims and runs.

HI. Sure you can start Alprim . But since you are having this problem again and again, you need to consult an Urologist and undergo tests to rule our the internal problem which may be the reason for recurrence. Merely taking tablets will not help you for a cure.
Swimming and such activities should be on hold till you get a proper underlying diagnosis and treatment.
