Is Ambrodil S Syrup For An Infant With Cold And Cough Safe?

Hi Doctor, My baby girl will be seven months old this week. She has had cold and cough (esp in the night) for the last three days. She is not feeding well since the cold set in and has lost 0.2 gms (last weight check was a month ago). she is now 7.02 Kg. (was born 2.79 kg). Doc has advised Ambrodil S syrup (2.5 mg 3 times a day). Is it safe? is there any side effect i should look out for?

Hai...cough & cold as such will get better by themselves in children. Most of times they are viral. I am happy that your kid didn't receive any antibiotic. Ambrodil-S has a tendency to cause heart rate fluctuations & better avoid it. Alternative is Levocetrizine. Kindly consult your dr for the same. Happy to help anytime.
