Is Apripiprazole Safe For Long Term Use For Schizophrenia?

I have just switched from quetipine to apripiprazole and it seems to be working an enourmous ammount better and am actually feeling good on it. It is prescribed to me for schizohprenia and i ve gone from 600mg of quetiapine to 20mg of aripiprazole. I was concerned though that it seems like its more a drug for depression and bipolar rather than schizophrenia. Will this drug be effective long-term in the treatment of my schizophrenia?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This medication is an atypical antipsychotic. This means that it is not one of the older typical anti psychotic medications.

It is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia but can also be used to treat other conditions such as bipolar disorder and depression.

Schizophrenia is one of its main uses so it should continue to be helpful for you.

I hope this helps
