Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have Parkinson d Disease and fell and got a fracture in my back. The MD gave me Belbuca (75 mcg), It makes my tremor so bad I can t function. Is Butrans 5 mcg the same med? They are so expensive I can t pay. The insurance said I could substitute Tramadol 50 mg. I don t know if this will work either. Thank you
Yes, Belbuca and Butran both contain the same drug that belong to the opioids which are strong pain killers, however the formulation may be different but formula is the same.
Tramadol also belongs to opioids and is a very effective pain killer, (though not that potent) and it can be used for the relief of the pain.
I hope I have answered your question.
I will be happy to answer anything else you want to ask.
