Is Dapagliflozin Safe For Diabetics, And Does It Carry A Risk Of DKA?

DR Raju Dear Doctor, whats your opinion on the medicine DAPAGLIFLOGIN 10 MG. Whether diabetics can take without any fear of DKA which may be resulted by this medicine.My phisician prescribed this to me.But i am littlebit hestating to take.Please advise.He suggested SITARA DM (sitagliptin 100 mg ,Metformin 1000 mg and dapagliflogin 10 mg )one tablet a day after breakfast.Kindly advise

Hello,

Yes, you can take this tablet and Dapa will excrete the sugar via urine but it is safe drug. It is very useful in old aged people. You can take and try to wash the genital area after urination as urine may infect some times and cause UTI, but it is safer drug, just by maintaining your hygiene you can control and avoid the UTI and diabetic ketoacidosis.
