Is Diamicron Safe Alternative Medicine For Glugophage?

Just been prescribed Diamicron, after being on glugophage for 4/5 years .Curious about hew medication. Reason for change glucophage caused diarrhaea. Added complication to be treated is quite severe pain from osteoarthrtis affecting back and hip. Am 86 years, female, unable to exercise now due to difficulty in walking. Prior to this was able to walk every day which kept diabetes in check. Any comments pse ?
