Is Diof DS An Appropriate Solution To Treat Stomach Infection Causing Semi-loose Stools In A Child?

My kid is 1.5 years and he has been crying a lot, probably due to stomach infection. He has passed motions - semi loose yesterday and could not sleep in the morning. Should Diof DS be given to him? I was worried more of the side effect of the medicine.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Excessive crying of child is possibly due to non specific intestinal colic.
Diof DS is a combination antibiotic syrup.
Use of antibiotic is not recommended for management of uncomplicated loose stools, they are self limiting.
Give Oral rehydration solution and probiotics.

Take Care
