Is Gabapentin The Right Medicine For Neuropathy In The Feet?

The doctor has put me on Gabapentin, 300mgs, three times a day for 90 days.I have a friend who has some neuropathy in here feet, and the Dr. gave her some. Later, her other Dr. told here to get off it immediately, as it was making it worse. What is your theory and advice. David

Neuropathy management requires evaluation for etiology. The benefit occurs when primary etiology is treated. Gabapentin can only help in decreasing symptoms of pain and tingling. It can be safely taken for months. Side-effects are variable and commonly weight gain and edema occurs. Report to doctor on case of side effects.
