Is Levolin Safe For Children Below 6 Years Of Age?

Our paediatrician had recommended usage of levolin 0.63 for our daughter (she is 2 years 5 months old now) when she has severe cough and it does not subside. She is having a real bad coughing episode now but I am reading that levolin is not recommended for children below 6. Is it safe?
