My doc prescribed Linzess to elevate a problem being unable to urinate which he thought might be caused by only having a bowl movement every 5 days or so. Prior to him prescribing Linzess I had visited my urologist and had a bladder scan and had a cathader installed for 2 days. the first two days I took Linzess I had a watery bowel movement in less than 2 hours. Now I have taken it for 2 days with no result. The urinary problems are back. Should I continue to take Linzess even though it is not working and give it more time. I don t know how many days I can go with little or no urination
Combination of constipation with urinary symptoms with retention episode are indirect evidence of neurogenic bladder. Linzess is not good for long term treatment. Try Isapgul powder 3tsp with good amount of water intake. Supplement this with syrup Cremaffin if there is severe constipation.
Its very important to avoid constipation to improve urinary symptoms. For urinary symptoms we have to step wise try medications which may relieve obstruction like Tamsulosin. But presently no urine can be sign of severe dehydration and kidney damage due to diarrhea and its better to see a doctor urgently.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
