Is Loratadine Effective For Enlarged Adenoids?

Hi My child (aged 12) was prescribed with loratadine by my GP over the phone for symptoms of enlarged Adenoids and i am not sure why. She has also been given a nasal spray. She does not have a runny noise or suffer from hay fever etc, however this was prescribed.

Hello
Sometimes adenoids enlarged due to some allergens , so your doctor prescribed antihistamine ( loratadine ) and nasal spray , so this is necessary because all the drugs advised without physical examination of patient ( phone ).
So take this treatment , and also hot saline gargles or gargles with antiseptic solution will also help .
If you think , your child is having some infection then give him levofloxacin 10 mg / kg body weight , once in day orally .
But this is a prescription drug , so consultation with a physician is important.
Good luck.
