Is Macrobid Right Treatment For Bacteria And Leukocytes In Urine?

I ve had pain in my left abdominal area for about 2-3 weeks now. I went to the doctor and they said I had bacteria and leukocytes in my urine. They put me on Macrobid for a week and the pain persisted so I went back. I just finished a 5 day (1000 mg) course of Cipro and there is still no change to my condition. I have no other symptoms of a UTI though other than lower left flank pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a urinary tract infection.

Macrobits are a common treatment for urinary tract infection.

I recommend doing a urinalysis to confirm the type of bacteria and proper antibiotic that can treat it.

Meanwhile, I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to relieve the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
