Is Maxtra P Syrup Ideal To Treat Severe Cold And Cough In A Toddler?

Hi, My 2 year son is having severe cold and cough. My doctor suggested me to give 5 ml of Maxtra P Syrup. My son was having cough from last one week but not much severe. He generally coughs he goes to sleep. So is Maxtra P beneficial or should I give him any other medicine. Please suggest. Thanks.
