Is Methocarbamol Effective For Treating Muscle Spasm?

I have been prescribed methacarbamol for muscle spasms of the legs related to nerve root impingement. They do not get rid of the spasms but make my fatigue from fibromyalgia worse. They also appear to cause me to be irritable and low in mood. Are they a good medication for muscle spasm? The irritability stems from taking methacarbamol three hours after use and gets worse as the day goes on. Should I be taking this medication or is there some other drug which will relieve very severe muscle spasm?
