Is Neopeptin & Practin Are Same Drugs For Epilipsy?
my son is 17 years and is suffering from epilipsy, one of his problem is food, he does not want to eat anything, the doctor has prescribed Neopeptin medicin but it is not available in my country, a known pharmacy has given Practin, which is Cyproheptadine Hydrochloride Syrup IP
I want to know is it the same medicine with a different name
No it is not the same medication, not even similar modes of action. Neopeptin is a combination of several ingredients, mainly enzymes which aid digestion. Cyproheptadine is a drug used mainly in the treatment of allergies but it has been used also for the treatment of anorexia (lack of apetite). Neither is used for epilepsy. In the cyproheptadine case I'd be careful because there is a risk of causing seizures.
