Hello,

Neurontin (gabapentin) is quite safe. It is not a treatment for withdrawal from narcotic, and it is quite common to cause pain. Various infection associates with infected blood with neuropathy. Human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV) is the most common one, and that should be tested.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman
