Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have PCOS and have been taking clomid and provera (to get my period). I did not have my period on day 28 and my ovulation levels came back really low. I just took a pregnancy test and it came back positive. If I am pregnant, is provera dangerous to the fetus?
Hi, Thanks for writing to HCM. It is good that your pregnancy test is positive. Clomid is composed of Clomiphene, which supports the growth and release of a mature egg (ovulation). Provera is Medroxyprogesterone, which is similar to the progesterone. Its side effects include nausea, bloating, breast tenderness, headache, change in vaginal discharge, mood swings, blurred vision, dizziness, drowsiness and weight gain/loss. Since you have conceived now, kindly consult Gynecologist in this regard to know weather you need to continue with Provera or need a change in the drug. Hope the information provided is useful. All the best.
