Is SGPT Level Of 109 Of A 10 Year Old A Cause For Concern?

Hi. My 10 year old son recently had his blood tests (ordered by his pediatrician, because he s a bit overweight- his weight is 55 kilos). His fasting blood sugar is 5.64 mmol/L, his lipid profile, uric acid, sodium, creatinine and cbc are all normal. His SGPT is slightly elevated at 109 U/L. Is his SGPT result alarming? He is an asthmatic, and drinks vitamin C and Fish oil for Kids everyday.

Hi.... the level of SGPT alone being high without any other associated clinical problems or liver related clinical Symptoms and Signs does not mean anything. I do not think you should worry about it. IF his other liver function tests are normal except for elevated SGPT like this you need not worry about this.
