Is Seroquel Effective In The Treatment Of Headaches?

yes, thank you. I have suffered from major headaches everyday for over 20 years. Everything the doctors have given me doesn t help. My headaches always get extreme after I eat. But I took Seroquel for the first time yesterday and even after eating I had no headache. I was wondering why this medicine helped me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There was a study conducted in 2008 that looked at the use of Seroquel drug in people with migraines that did not respond to typical treatment.

Seroquel suppresses certain chemicals in the brain, one of these is dopamine. It has been found that dopamine can worsen or cause headaches.

By suppressing the dopamine drug, the Seroquel can prevent the headache from occurring.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
