Is Trazodone Better Than Effexor In Treating Low-grade Depression?
I have a long standing low level of depression. I have been told also anxiety disorder. Which ever it is it does cause sleep problems and resulting in migraines and tension headaches. I have been given a prescription for Effexor Cr 75 mg. After reading up on it I really don’t feel safe taking this med. I have in the past taken triazadone which works well. In your opinion what would you advise.
Trazadone is tri cyclin-related anti-depressant while Effexor (venlafaxine) belongs to SNRI. Both of these drugs are used for depression and anxiety, Both drugs are quite effective, and both have its side effects.
However, there is no reason to think that Effexor has more side effects then Trazadone.
Rather Effexor appear safer. So you should take Effexor as advised by your doctor. I personally like Effexor against Trazadone.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
