Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Unfortunately, PSP is not a curable condition and there is really no known medication to even treat the deterioration that occurs. It is part of a constellation of diseases known as PARKINSON'S PLUS SYNDROMES. Although PARKINSON'S DISEASE is treatable none of the PARKINSON'S PLUS diseases even carry known treatments. We tend to use the same medications used to treat Parkinson's Disease. Therefore, in the setting of your husband showing some improvement I would recommend sticking with that treatment plan. I would defer to the expertise of your doctor and not do anything that contradicts your doctor's recommendations. If your doctor is the type that encourages dialogue with his/her patients or family members then, by all means bring up your ideas. If not, then, you will be under the constraint of having to have faith in your doctor's sense of what's best for your husband and go with that.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
