Is A Bulge In The Left Side Of The Stomach In A 51-year-old Due To Hernia?

Hello, My name is Tanya and I’m 51 years old. For nearly 2 months the left-hand side of my stomach I was getting a small bulge. I had several surgeries and there was questions about possible adhesions. In the past three days my stomach on the left-hand side has popped out almost larger than a softball. It’s quite painful and I was wondering if you could tell me what this could be? I’m going Into my doctors tomorrow. Could it be a hernia? The only thing I know is I can no longer put my jeans on because of that bulgeI have never been heavy as I’m 5’4” at 135# Something is very wrong… I hope you can help me. Thanks, Tanya

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it will be a hernia.

Consult a general surgeon and plan for an ultrasound scan to make a diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
