Hello,

At her age, such strong gastric pain that keeps on coming must always be taken seriously, and diet only may not be sufficient, but I will guide you clearly. Your diet chart mentioning oats, barley, suji, banana, chapati with bottle gourd are all light. They are low-spice, and easy-to-digest items, so nothing in here is harmful. In fact, most of it is generally good for someone with acidity or gastritis.

The important part here is that the diet is very "one-type," low in calories and protein. Eating this daily may make her feel weak, waste away, and not heal. Elderly people need some protein and a bit of variety for the lining of the stomach to heal.

A bigger concern is her pain. If the pain is “so strong that she cries,” I always think of severe gastritis, ulcer, gall bladder issues, pancreatic irritation, or acid reflux with inflammation. Diet will help only a little. What she needs is an actual medical checkup, and often we start medicines to calm the stomach lining for a few weeks. I am not naming medicines because she must be checked before anything is started.

Your diet plan is safe, but that should just be a temporary soft diet for 3-4 days and not a long-term routine. And you really need to have her checked because pain this strong is not "simple gas."

I suggest she continue with light meals. Add curd, moong dal, cooked vegetables, soft rice to this diet for better nutritional intake. Avoid tea, coffee, fried food, pickles, tomatoes, onions, and citrus foods until a diagnosis. Good hydration is to be maintained. Eat smaller, more frequent meals. But again, this does not replace evaluation.

The elderly with persistent gastric pain should not be managed at home for too long. Please take her for a physical consultation, even a general physician or a gastro specialist, so that they can examine her abdomen and decide whether some tests need to be conducted or not.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further query I will be happy to help. Wish you good health.
