Is A Hard, Painful Knot Below Ribs When Bending Due To Muscle Cramps?

In the area just below the ribs (just above the abdomen) Sometimes when I'm doubled over while bending from a sitting position, I get a cramp or spasm in that area on the left or right side front. There is a hard knot that is extremely painful. If I stand up, walk around and rub the affected area, the cramp will lessen and go away. How ever the area can still be a bit tender a day later. Is this a muscle cramp or organ?

Hi,

Very often a condition named costochondritis can cause the type of pain as described by you. There is severe pain in the front portion of ribs. It is not a serious condition but the pain gets disturbing. It is best you consult an orthopedic surgeon and get it confirmed.
