Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is A Huge Lump On The Elbow Suggestive Of Lymph Node?
I have a ping pong sized lump in my elbow. At first I thought muscle damage but after several weeks massages and ice it never went away. My arm frequently goes numb I was wondering if there is a lymphnode there? If so what could cause it to swell to such a large size and how to treat it?
It could be enlarged epitrochlear lymph node. The epitrochlear lymph nodes are located approximately 3 cm proximal to the medial humeral epicondyle in the trochlear groove between the biceps and the triceps muscles.
An enlarged epitrochlear node is usually pathological. In the absence of dermatitis or other inflammation of the hands or forearms (Acute infections of the ulnar aspect of the forearm and hand may be responsible for epitrochlear adenopathy), the presence of epitrochlear nodes is a valuable clue to systemic diseases such as sarcoidosis, secondary syphilis (often bilateral), Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Clinical examination is needed to confirm lymph node enlargement or some other lump (e.g. neurofibromas or lipoma). Usually, a biopsy will give tissue diagnosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
