Is A Low Grade Temp Post Appendectomy Normal?

my daughter had a laparoscopic appendectomy 24 hours ago and has been sent home. her temperature is now 99.2. The discharge instructions said to call the dr for a high temp of 101.5 of higher. Is a low grade temp 24 hours after appendectomy normal. she is not on antibiotics and they gave her a dose of mefoxitin (spelling?) during surgery.

Low grade temperature is not unusual post surgical procedure and if she is otherwise well then she definitely does not need any antibiotics. Instead she should continue to take antipyretics/analgesics like paracetamol every 6-8 hrly for 2days to keep her comfortable. You should get in touch with the surgeon if she develops high spiking temperature , signs of wound infection - redness, discharge, swelling.
